There is an ancient buddhist story, about two monks who were setting out on foot for a temple.

While cutting through the woods, they encountered a river. Stranded on one side was a young woman who did not know how to get across.

The younger monk turned to the older monk, wondering what they were going to do, since they had both vowed never to touch a woman.

Without hesitating, the elder monk picked up the woman, carried her across, and set her on the other side of the shore.

After a couple of minutes, the younger monk turned to ask his elder, "Brother, how could you carry that woman like that? We're not even supposed to make eye contact". The elder monk responds, "It seems you are the one still carrying her, I set her down on the other side of the river a while ago."

Yes, sharing involves taking something. But you cannot share without dropping what you've picked up, and leaving it behind.
